Ultran som aldrig fanns..
En del har funderat över den kaliber 25 Ultra som valsade runt i brittisk press de senaste åren, här kommer en kort bakgrund till denna från JB himself:
The Ultra .25” Special.
I made this up at the request of a gun writer by the name of Graham Allen some five or so years ago. Both Graham and myself were of the opinion that there would be a reasonable demand for a 12 ft/lbs .25” Ultra in the UK but were unsuccessful in persuading the marketing department of BSA that this was the case. I alter
ed the settings on a standard factory .22” Ultra to suit what they would be if it were to go into production and fitted a tight .25” BSA barrel. This is of a different size to current BSA .25” barrel production. I used the same probe assembly as the Lonestar high power .25” I designed for export markets but used a 12” barrel instead of the latter’s 23” tube. Graham had been using the little gun since then but Malcolm, although pleased with it, remarked that he thought it might need a service. On return to me I gave it a Blueprint Tune, with all that entails, and set velocity to not exceed 450fps with JSB .25” King pellets. It would then be inside our 12 ft/lbs limit with any other brand. Charged to 200 bars gave a shot count of 40 with velocity spread of + or – 8fps with another 10-15 usable shots at dropping velocity.
